Gaten Matarazzo actor from”Stranger Things”, suffers from a genetic disorder
What’s his story?
Gaetano John “Gaten” Matarazzo III, born September 8, 2002 is an American actor. He began his career on the Broadway stage as Benjamin in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and as Gavroche in Les Misérables.
Gaten suffered when he found out about the disorder that deforms his body. The actor from Stranger Things lost many TV opportunities because of his unusual genetic disorder. But not for the “Strange Things” producers, his condition was the perfect feature.
Gaten Matarazzo had his first role when he was 7 years old, he was born at Little Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. After that he knew that, he found out what he was meant to be. Soon at age 10, he was already in one of the biggest shows on Broadway.
When he turned 11, he was diagnosed with a genetic disorder. He is diagnosed with CCD short for “Cleidocranial Dysplasia”, which affects every bone in your body, facial growth, skull growth and pretty much everything. He talks about how his condition so far has effected on him. Teeth problems and his height.
Also there is a part in Netflix which he tells about his disorder. Now Gaten works with an organization to raise awareness about the disorder, and help people whose health insurance doesn’t cover the treatment. Today Gaten doesn’t see his disorder as an obstacle but as an advantage, and he is not afraid to show it to the world.
